A traditional German cherry bread pudding, soft and fruity with a hint of vanilla.
Ingredients:
- 4-5 slices of day-old white bread (preferably stale, or you can use rolls or brioche)
- 400g fresh or jarred cherries (pitted, drained if using jarred)
- 500 ml (about 2 cups) milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar (or to taste)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp butter (for greasing the baking dish)
